The Church called Jonah

These are a series of devotions on the book of Jonah in the Bible, where a comparison is made between Jonah and the Church of today.

In today's video we compare the commission Jonah received from the Lord and the Great Commission the Church received from the Lord Jesus.

This is the 2nd of a series of 31 talks on the Book of Jonah, where I make a comparison between the story of Jonah and the Church of today.

Jonah embarked on a rebellious journey away from the Lord. Where are we headed?

The prophet Jonah encounters a mighty tempest while attempting to flee from the presence of God and the commission of God.

In his attempt to flee from the presence of God, and His call on his life, Jonah had entrusted his life into the hands of the mariners, but on account of the tempest, they were gripped with fear, and unable to offer him the protection he sought.

In times of trouble, we call out to so many people, and so often in vain, but in today’s story we see the mariners, each calling out to their own god. How long is it before we cry out to God when we’re in trouble?

There are certain crisis situations that we may sometimes encounter in our lives, when we need to make a choice between what to dispose of and what to hold on to. In this 7-minute video, based on Jonah 1:5, we will see how the mariners had to make one such decision.

While we all need to sleep to stay healthy, there is a time to not sleep – this was not the time for Jonah to sleep. Check out this under 8-minutes video to learn more.

The Prophet Jonah had to be awakened from his deep sleep to the reality around him. Check out this seven-and-a-half-minute video to see what you might need to be awakened from and to.

Imagine being awoken from sleep to be interrogated. That's what happened with Jonah.

Identity is such an important aspect of our lives, and this seemed to be an important issue to the sailors, concerning Jonah as well.

Jonah was questioned by the sailors concerning his identity. In today's video he responds to those questions.

Jonah was questioned by the sailors as to why he rebelled against God. The church needs to answer the world the same question.
